Joey's 2nd Halloween (he's the chicken)...

When we were taking pregnancy classes we were in a class with 3 other couples, these are the kids. It's so cool to see them grow up together. Aren't they adorable?!!!!

This is Joey with his friends at day care. He goes two days a week. Usually it's him and the two girls. He loves to play with other kids!

Joey

Love this!!

He's looking at an airplane. I think he thinks it's Michael!
He loves airplanes! Well, I should say he likes to point them
out of the sky---riding them, well that's been a different story.

Joey's first haircut! Bye bye mullet!

Joey had his first haircut (at 17-1/2 months) today! We took him to a kid salon to make it special. They had a movie playing and bright colored walls. As soon as he got in the chair he started to flip out....but we saved the whole experience with a chicken nugget. So he basically ate his nugget and by the time his nugget was gone the haircut was over (like 7 minutes).

These were taken later in the day as he played around the house.

He's trying to give me a kiss! How sweet!

Family vacation at Camper's Paradise, Nevis MN

Camper's Paradise is a little island on a lake in Nevis Minnesota. My Dad started camping there when he was nine years old with 12 other kids in his boy scout troop. He's been going every year since with the same group and along the way everyone brings one or two new people. I went every single year from birth till I got married and moved out to CA. Well, we want to keep the tradition so Joey went last year for the first time. We just got back this morning for his second year. He loved it!! For those of you with kids...camping is a lot of work with kids but they LOVE it and will cherish this time as a family--so DO IT!! :)

I love this photo! I have a photo of my Dad holding me as a baby with a fish and Nick has a photo with his Dad and a fish...so here's Joey's picture with Dad and a fish! This is very Minnesotan!

Grandma and Joey fishing.

Grandpa took us for a boat ride on his pontoon.

"Why you keep looking at my butt?"
...(maybe cause your butt cheek is hanging out!)

Every year we have a big fish fry!

Here's our group photo this year! We are holding paper plates with names and faces for the people who weren't there this year. Long story...we missed you guys! Hopefully we see you next year!!!

Grandpa and Joey!

The perfect way to end a week of camping on an island!

Camping with friends from church...

A couple weekends ago Nick, Joey and I went camping up at Refugio campgrounds with our friends from church. We had such a great time. For us, with our families so far away, it felt like a family gathering and it was nice. Check out all those kids!!

My 2nd Mother's Day!!

Today was my second year as a mommy! It is so cool to have a child and JOEY is just a real blessing. I wanted to share my mother's day surprise with you...I had a late wedding on Saturday in Santa Ynez. On my way home my husband calls me (12:15am) and says "Happy Mother's Day". It was nice because Nick is usually fast asleep at 10pm so him staying up for me was very sweet. When I got home he helped me unload all my gear into the house (for my friends who are photographers you know just how nice that is after a long exhausting shoot). Then I slowly crawl up the stairs sore and sunburned and I turn the corner into our room and there on the wall is this giant piece of paper like the size of the entire wall! I just started to tear up--It was so perfect!!! It had all my favorite Joey facts and all the little things Joey loves about me written in crayon (by Nick obviously-Joey is only 13 months old). Nick outlined Joey laying on the paper, sitting, his hand print and his foot print. I just LOVE it. I gotta say--this was soooo much cooler than a card in my book!

Thank you babe! and you too Joey! I love you guys!

We had Joey's first birthday party yesterday at the Arneil Ranch Park in Camarillo. It was a wonderful sunny, friend filled day! Joey loves cake and apparently sand and sticks.

WPPI in Las Vegas!

This is my assistant Dia and I at the WPPI (Wedding Portrait Photographers International) in Las Vegas this past week (sorry about the glare on the photo). We had a great time and learned some really neat stuff. I am most excited about some new album design software I found to help me speed up my album design process. Right now I spend about 8-10 hours on a magazine style flush album...YIKES! I am hoping with this software I can cut that time down to more like 3 hours. I'll keep you posted.

I also bought the cutest camera bag from SHOOTSAC. That's the booth where Dia and I also took these photos. Now I am going to be stylin' and profilen' at the weddings!! Woo HOO!

More photos are soon to come!

Cook for a day...Eat for a month

Friday a few friends from church and I got together to cook 18 meals that will then be frozen so that we will have meals to take out of our freezers, let thaw out, and pop in the oven for dinner each day. People wonder how Mom's do it or people like me with a baby and a business--well this certainly helps. Since the last cook for a day marathon I have lost 2 clothing sizes. I think it has a lot to do with not eating out so much, because I have food ready to go at home, and eating a lot earlier (say 5pm rather than 7-8pm) because the food was ready and I don't have to think- 'What are we having for dinner?' 'Well, let's just go out, where do you want to eat?' and waiting to get a table, to get a menu, and to order. So instead of eating 2-3 hours before bed now I am eating 5-6 hours before bed. Also, I only take one plate of food--so a bit of portion control. The nice part about the whole thing-no calorie counting, the food has cheese, I eat pasta, and all that other yummy food! Anyways, I just wanted to share this with you. If you are feeling overwhelmed with your day and never know what to make for dinner, gather up a group of four and start sharing recipes that freeze well with one another, they also have a ton online for free. You shop together, go to one persons house, cook for 8 hours, then go home with tons of food. Split the bill four ways and save save save!
