May God bless our soldiers and this great country!

These few shots were taken at the Oxnard Sea Bee Days parade last weekend. It was an emotional visit...As I held my 2 year old son in my arms on the pavement I watched as fighter jets flew overhead and big tanks fired off machine gun blanks while hundreds of men and women marched by my feet...and I cried through the whole thing. I am proud of them for their role in keeping this nation from harms way so that I can play outside with my kid without fear but it pains me that sons and daughters, mothers and fathers are put in a position to use these things in the first place and the reality that some of the people that proudly walked before me that day may die for us....harsh...yikes...I think I am going to loose it again while I type.

We go about our day as we always do and often forget that our country is at war and has been...each day people are put in dangers way...each day they need our prayers...please take one minute right now to pray for the sons and daughters, mothers and fathers serving our country and the families that wait for them to come home. It's what we can do for those who are giving so much for us.

Merry Christmas!

Joey and Daddy.

He sees a doggy.
Ok, the photo below was taken this morning as Joey watched a video our day care provider Michelle made for us of photos from this past year of all the kids. He's playing playdough and yelling out the kids names. I love when he says his own name "JOEY!".
We had a very nice and mellow Christmas this year. We went to Christmas Eve service on Monday and then had a couple of friends over for our traditional lasagna dinner. Played a few games--it was really nice! Then Christmas day Nick made a nice big breakfast and we watched Joey open his gifts. He was sort of not sure what to do. It was a great opportunity to practice our thank-yous! After naps we went to the park with Joey---it was really great light and we had the park all to ourselves. We finished off the day with grilled cheese and tomato soup and movie (I love movies---and ice cream!). I hope you had a wonderful day celebrating the Lords birth!

We started to set up the Christmas tree...

I love this...He is so excited!

We started to set up our little fake tree and Joey was having so much fun helping put it together that we thought we'd save decorating it for another day.

Joey's 2nd Halloween (he's the chicken)...

When we were taking pregnancy classes we were in a class with 3 other couples, these are the kids. It's so cool to see them grow up together. Aren't they adorable?!!!!

This is Joey with his friends at day care. He goes two days a week. Usually it's him and the two girls. He loves to play with other kids!

Family Portrait Session...Thousand Oaks

Little Timmy is the perfect age for capturing that contagious smile! We went to a park and saw ducks and played in the leaves. At the end of the session I kept thinking I should have brought Joey---these two little nuggets would have had so much fun together.

Joey

Love this!!

He's looking at an airplane. I think he thinks it's Michael!
He loves airplanes! Well, I should say he likes to point them
out of the sky---riding them, well that's been a different story.

Joey's first haircut! Bye bye mullet!

Joey had his first haircut (at 17-1/2 months) today! We took him to a kid salon to make it special. They had a movie playing and bright colored walls. As soon as he got in the chair he started to flip out....but we saved the whole experience with a chicken nugget. So he basically ate his nugget and by the time his nugget was gone the haircut was over (like 7 minutes).

These were taken later in the day as he played around the house.

He's trying to give me a kiss! How sweet!

This is my sister and her fiance Michael. I went out to New Jersey to visit my sister and to help her pick out her wedding dress. It was also the perfect time to capture some engagement pics. They are planning to marry in Minnesota on January 5th.

Family Portraits in Santa Barbara on the beach...

This is family portrait time of year. Kids are still out of school, everyone is nice and tan (hopefully not burnt), and you will have plenty of time to order photos for your friends and family in time for the holidays or order those Christmas cards in plenty of time to write personal notes (in my case--just get them in the mail before the last possible moment). So, if you are interested in booking a session please contact us at info@katiemoos.com.

Our portrait sessions usually take about an hour and we are happy to take multiple groupings while we are there....maybe the whole family, just the kids, and some of Mom and Dad together (because we know the last time you had a photo of just the two of you was your wedding day). On location shoots are great for kids- we will shoot the first group--let the kids run around a bit and take a few more. This allows us the opportunity to catch some candid shots of your kids--just being themselves too.

Family vacation at Camper's Paradise, Nevis MN

Camper's Paradise is a little island on a lake in Nevis Minnesota. My Dad started camping there when he was nine years old with 12 other kids in his boy scout troop. He's been going every year since with the same group and along the way everyone brings one or two new people. I went every single year from birth till I got married and moved out to CA. Well, we want to keep the tradition so Joey went last year for the first time. We just got back this morning for his second year. He loved it!! For those of you with kids...camping is a lot of work with kids but they LOVE it and will cherish this time as a family--so DO IT!! :)

I love this photo! I have a photo of my Dad holding me as a baby with a fish and Nick has a photo with his Dad and a fish...so here's Joey's picture with Dad and a fish! This is very Minnesotan!

Grandma and Joey fishing.

Grandpa took us for a boat ride on his pontoon.

"Why you keep looking at my butt?"
...(maybe cause your butt cheek is hanging out!)

Every year we have a big fish fry!

Here's our group photo this year! We are holding paper plates with names and faces for the people who weren't there this year. Long story...we missed you guys! Hopefully we see you next year!!!

Grandpa and Joey!

The perfect way to end a week of camping on an island!

In front of the camera...

Ok, for all my photo friends out there that haven't been in front of the camera in a while--you should do it. Nick, Joey, and I had our portraits taken by one of my fav photographers Elizabeth Messina today. I gotta tell ya--I realized a lot. You know when you give your clients directions like "turn this way" and they do but not exactly the way you were thinking...yep I did that like a dozen times. And you know when you are shooting a family with a young child and it's hard to get the little munchkin looking into the camera and smiling at the same time so you tell the parents "keep looking at me and when the kids looking I'll take it" and the parents are always looking at the kid...yep that was me (like a dozen times). I gotta say--poor Elizabeth had her hands full with us.

And for all my clients and potential clients...I know what you go through before the shoot...the shopping and coordinating outfits (or trying to coordinate-in our case), the prep the day of, the hustle and bustle to get there on time and the wondering if your hair is like straight up when the wind blows...I felt it all. But the best feeling of all is trust---trust that your photographer rocks and that they are going to capture YOU and they'll be sure to keep an eye on your crazy hair too! :) When you have trust--you have the right photographer!

I can't wait to see the pics!

And to Elizabeth-thanks for putting up with us--you are awesome!

Joey eats by himself!

There gets to be a point where your kid just wants to feed himself...well--this is what happens. I should have known that if I love pasta so would he.

Becky's Shower

Becky is a friend from church. Her and her husband are expecting their first son in less than a month. I had a great time with the girls. Showers are GREAT. In case you haven't been to one--you basically show-up with gift in hand, eat yummy food, play silly games, chat about baby stories, and watch them open presents. The whole thing takes only about 2 hours. They are short but packed with fun!! And it's just wonderful to be a part of the preparations for a new life. And this little boy is very lucky to have such loving parents.

Joey-10 months

This is my son! I haven't posted him in a while so I thought I'd share a few. My favorite part of everyday is going in to pick him up from his crib in the morning or after a nap. Joey usually wakes up and begins to play with his stuffed toys in his bed until I come to get him. It's wonderful because he might be awake at 7am and I'm not really ready till 7:45ish...so he just hangs out and plays. When I go in there he is always soooo excited to see me. I LOVE that!

Birthday Dinner

Joey...

Gaby baby getting his bath...

The boys...

We went to our friends house this weekend for an absolutely wonderful meal to celebrate our birthdays. Nick and I actually have the same birthday, however he is two years older. It was nice to get together with friends and relax. We met Mark and Lisa in our baby classes before we had Joey. We have become really close to the 2 couples in the class and look forward to seeing the 3 boys grow up together. In this photo Nick and Joey are on the left and Mark and Gabe are on the right. Aren't they adorable?!

Joey- 10 months

That's right he's 10 months old! And do you see that look in his eye--he is getting into EVERYTHING! He might still be crawling but the kid is FAST! I wanted to share with you some of Joey's nickname (because he has TONS)...

Joseph, Joey, Joe-Joe, tooter (I'm sure you can figure out why), bugga, nugget, stinky (toes, butt, and sometimes just stinky), little dude, and little man

No wonder why he doesn't come when I call him--he's not sure whom I am calling for?!

Gotta love him though--he is wonderful!

Joey finds the bathroom and when he does he stops right at the doorway turns to me with this look like 'hello, I am about to use the restroom-do you mind?'. I love it.
